The Geek Dad's Guide to Weekend Fun

Yes, it's finally here!

Yes, it’s been a lot of build-up, but the day is finally here! The GeekDad’s Guide to Weekend Fun is finally on sale, and available online and in bookstores near you (if, indeed, there are any bookstores left near you). I’ll post any scheduled signings here on the blog, but know that I’ll certainly be able to sign copies at Maker Faire Bay Area and PAX Prime this year, so bring your’s along (or buy them at Maker Faire!).

You can find it at these prestigious merchants TODAY:

Geek Dad Nominated for Books for a Better Life Award!

Geek Dad has been nominated for a Books for a Better Life award by the National MS Society in the category of Childcare/Parenting! To say the least, this is quite exciting. Ken has this to say about the nomination:

I’m totally gobsmacked by this nomination. I know the saying ‘it’s an honor just to be nominated’ is a stale old canard, but that’s just how I feel. I am grateful to the selection committee for considering my little tome worthy, and to the National MS Society for their tireless work in battling the disease. I’m so happy to be able to support them in this way.

We’ll keep you posted on the nomination. The awards will be held March 7, 2011 in New York.

About Books for a Better Life:

Since its inception in 1996, Books for a Better Life have recognized more than 500 self-improvement authors and has now raised more than $1.7 million for the New York City – Southern New York Chapter’s comprehensive support services and educational programs for people living with MS, their friends and families. The Awards recognize self-improvement authors whose messages are aligned with the chapter’s mission of inspiring people to live their best lives.

Good luck to all the nominees, and of course, to you, Ken!

Geek Dad Book #2 is In the Works!

I’ve been a bit quiet over the last few weeks – my apologies. Turns out, book #1 was so well received that the publisher wants a second one – on the same schedule. Meaning where I had around nine months to write the first one, I have three for the second. Needless to say, it’s a crunch. But more great projects are coming – including a number of geeky celebrities adding their ideas. Stay tuned!

Review: Geek Dad Projects are Fun For All

Heather Vale, who blogs at Heather Vale Unwrapped: Unwrapping the Mysteries of Life, didn’t quite know what to expect when she first saw Geek Dad. She wondered: “would these be projects that only computer hackers and programmers could hope to pull off?” But, suffice it to say, she was pleasantly surprised with the ease and creativity she encountered! She goes on to say:

The book’s title makes it a tough gift for moms, non-geek types, or those who remember when “geek” was a full-blown insult. But I’m not afraid to say that I’ll be tapping into it for fun projects, and probably for years to come.

Doing Great at Powell’s (@powells)

Just had to include this screen grab of how well the book is doing at Powell’s Books. If you don’t know, Powell’s is one of the most respected independent bookstores this side of the Rockies, and being included in their Featured section this month is a true honor.

I’ve also been told that the book is in the window at their main store. If anyone has a chance to snap a picture, I’ve love to see it!
